Anthropology 1: An Overview

Ant 101, Semester 1: The course provides insight into the four sub-fields of the discipline (Archaeology, Biological, Linguistics, and Socio-cultural), its origins, development, and its place in contemporary society. It introduces students to the history of the discipline and its methods as a social science that studies human societies in all of their complexity and diversity. This is done through critical engagement with the emergence of the discipline and fieldwork experiences.

ANT 102, Semester 2: This course utilises ethnographic perspectives using case studies to explore local, regional and global dimensions of cultures and societies. This provides an opportunity for critically engaging the intersection between ethnographic approaches and anthropological theories over time to analyse the dynamic nature of social worlds.
